Earrings likely weren’t significant in Viking attire based on grave and settlement findings in Scandinavia. However, Scandinavians likely encountered during their travels other cultures that wore them, particularly in southern Europe and Russia. The earrings discovered in a silver hoard alongside coins from just after the Viking Age suggest that they were either embraced by Scandinavian women or repurposed, though the exact context remains uncertain.
